What is "your only hope" in??? I was thinking about that last night when I heard a spoof on Princess Leia (sp?).from Star Wars fame, as she was sending a message through R2D2. She said, "You are my only hope, Obi Wan Kenobi (sp?)."
And it made me think about what "my only hope" is? I realize that many of us put our hope in so many different things: the stock market, the future health care plan, our job, the government, the President...our health, our family, our friends..............
But the question I pose in this brief blog: Are any of those things really worth hoping in? What will you do if they fail? Then what?
I am going to dare to say that-- the only SURE place to put your hope is-- in Jesus Christ.
If you have read any of my other blogs then surely you must realize that there is VERY STRONG evidence that God does indeed exist. And HE has given us the greatest HOPE imaginable that transcends this world--it is LIFE everlasting if we accept HIS Gift to us, HIS SON, JESUS--and let HIM be our Savior and Lord.
This is no mindless, Christian cliche' I am telling you. It is the TRUTH. I am a Truth seeker and science and history and logic scream that there is a God!
The evidence is compelling!!!
Just remember, there are over 300 prophecies, written thousands of years before Jesus came on the scene. And HE fulfilled EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM!!!!! That, my friend, is impossible unless HE truly was/is the ONE they were talking about!!!
So, put your trust (and HOPE) in HIM> I have a feeling that very soon, you are going to need something or Someone to hang onto, and NO ONE has a better grip than a Father Who loves HIS children!
So just wanted to throw that out here because it was on my heart.
"YOU are my ONLY hope, ........Lord Jesus!"
IN HIM

Good Friday Blog--The Greatest Truth
The Greatest Truth--Blog for April 2009
Logic is a gift that should be used in determining truth. I am asking you to read this blog in a logical way and not with a bias or any predetermined beliefs.
Our courts are built on the premise that if someone catches you committing a certain act and they are willing to testify against you, then you are likely to be convicted. It is even more compelling if there is more than one witness--especially if they are not acquainted, because their testimony would come from different sources. And it is very compelling if these witnesses would risk their safety to testify-- like if they were a witness against a gang member or the mafia.
And if those who testified gave you facts and locations of where this event occurred and those places could be verified, it would hold even more weight in proving the case to be true.
What I am about to share with you is a case verified by history that has established the names, places and dates given by the witnesses. The case has also been established by hundreds of people from many different walks of life, who were eye witnesses to one of the most amazing stories that ever happened in our history! Many were willing to go to their deaths because of what they saw and believed. I think that makes for a compelling case!
So I would like to present this case and I would ask that you tell me your verdict.
2000 years ago, a Man named Jesus, Yeshua, lived in a land now called Israel. He was born in Bethlehem and had an uneventful life (as far as we know) until the age of 30 when He came onto the pages of history. And then He had the most eventful life of anyone that has ever lived! He has had an effect on every person who has ever lived-- even if they do not realize it. And what is even more amazing about this Man, people wrote about Him hundreds of years before He ever lived on this earth!
There are references to the Messiah all through the Old Testament of the Bible that point to This Man. Different men from different time periods gave clues of what to look for and what would happen to the Messiah. Israel was eagerly looking for this Man to come, but surprisingly, many of them missed His arrival.
These men, also called Prophets-- because they had a special gift to hear God’s Voice, told where the Messiah would be born: they gave His genealogy: they told about His great works and miracles--that He would heal the sick and set the captives free; they wrote that many of His own people would reject Him; the prophets told of His trial; and they told of His death--how He would die and what He would say during His execution. And finally, and most important, they told He would not be left in the grave-- that He would rise from the dead!
If you would like to look at more of the prophecies that Jesus fulfilled, check out this website: Click here: Prophecies that Jesus Christ Fulfilled
It would be impossible for one person to fulfill all of these prophecies, something like 1 in the trillions, unless He were the Person they were referring to. And of course, God gave them this information because He wanted people to KNOW that this Man was truly the ONE!
Now many say that they believe Jesus was a good man or a special teacher or even a prophet. Most religions recognize Him in some way or another.
But Jesus claimed to be the Son of God, the Messiah, the Chosen One Who would redeem the world. He went to His agonizing death because He made these claims. And He knew that He would die like this because He often told His disciples about it. Yet He continued His mission on this earth against great odds and evil adversaries.
So Jesus was not Someone you could just pass off as an extraordinary figure in history and let it go at that. He either was or was not the Savior of the world. And if He is the Lord of lords and the Son of God, then it would behoove us all to know what He was about and if there is something we need to do in response!
If you are not too sure about the Bible being true, then look at the historians’ writings of that time period and see that they confirmed His existence as well as His miracles and crucifixion. They also talk about what happened after His death and that thousands of people turned to Christianity, as it was soon called.
Many of the Jewish leaders did not believe He was the One and constantly tried to find something wrong with what He did or said. They even witnessed many of His miracles and tried to attribute them to satan or got angry with Him because He would heal someone on the Sabbath. So they did not deny His miracles even though they would have liked to. But they could not dismiss what everyone saw Him do.
You see, Jesus did not fit their image of who they thought the Messiah would be. They wanted a king and He seemed more like a pauper. They wanted someone who would deliver them from the Roman tyranny but He preached love and peace. He cared about the common people and helped them whenever He could. He hated the religious traditions that were empty and meaningless and often confronted the religious leaders for their hypocrisy.
Often, religion has become a stumbling block to those who really want to know Jesus. HE is not a religion; HE is a Person Who can be known. HE is a way of life-- not a bunch of rules and empty traditions.
Jesus loved people and cared about them. He fed the hungry and healed the sick. He set people free who were in bondage and He gave hope to people who had none. Why would anyone NOT want to follow such a Man?
But there were many who didn’t and they eventually planned His death. He willingly submitted to it even though it was not something He wanted to do. He did it because, through His death, the penalty for sin was satisfied. Sin cannot be left alone. It brings death to all who commit it and we all commit sin. He paid for sin with His death. Now all we have to do is receive His gift. And His gift is eternal life.
Tonight, Christians all over the world remember the death of Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God. They will commemorate His death by remembering the suffering He willingly endured and the terrible way in which He died.
On Sunday, Christians all over the world will celebrate His Resurrection!!! It truly is the pivotal point of ………Everything! All history of mankind hangs on the fact that, not only did Jesus die for us and pay for our sin, but HE is also alive in a Body that will never die! And that is our hope as Christians that we will one day join Him and live forever with Him! It is the hope which we have.
If you doubt the Resurrection, then know that there were over 500 witnesses who saw the Resurrected Christ after they saw Him die on the Cross. Many of them knew where He was buried because the Bible said what grave He was put in. (This was also talked about in an ancient prophecy.) And the Romans, in order to prevent people claiming that He had risen, put armed guards around the grave because they knew where the grave was, too! Those guards were probably put to death later because they failed their mission.
You see, Jesus was not there a few days later. His tomb was empty! You may ask: someone might have gotten past the guards and stole His body? Well, I doubt that these untrained disciples could have pulled that off but even if they could, then why would they be willing to die to say that they saw Jesus alive? Thousands of people became Christians after this event and many of those same people had been previously chanting for His crucifixion. Now they believed He was the Christ and they were willing to die for Him. And many of them did. This is also documented by secular historians.
There is much more evidence than I have written but these were some of the facts I felt were the most compelling.
So, then, what is your verdict? What verdict do you think a jury would give? What if you were on that jury? One day you will have to give a verdict even if you don’t give one now.
It is my great desire that you will find HIM to be the Truth……….
“For this cause I was born, and for this cause I have come into the world, that I should bear witness to the Truth. Everyone who is of the Truth hears My Voice.” John 19:37

April 1st--Are you a Fool?
Today is the day where people love to play tricks on people and make them feel like a fool. But, according to the Bible, there are people who are actually referred to as fools.
Psalm 14:1The fool says in his heart, "There is no God."
I would say to you that we have all been fools at one time or another. There are few who have always believed there is a God. Most of us have had doubts at one time or another.
But what about those who just think that God is a fairy tale because it is just too unbelievable to think that there actually is a GOD in Heaven?
That has been the ultimate purpose of this blog to reveal the Truth. And I believe that every avenue available to man has revealed that there is indeed Truth that can be known by all who really want to know. And that Truth resounds over and over to those who hear-- that there is indeed an Omnipotent Being WHO (as unbelievable as it sounds) created the heavens and the earth and all that is within them.
We have talked about the fairly recent discovery by scientists in the past century who have come to the conclusion that our universe had to have a beginning. And that argument ALONE is probably one of the best to realize that there must be a God because how else did all of this begin? Can anyone logically give me another explanation????
And we have talked about the amazing intricacies of even a single cell which demands some thought to the possibility that they had to be created or designed to even work. It is almost an insult to say that a cell just somehow came into being over thousands of years and was, more or less, an accident of nature. I am insulted by the belief that says I am an accident of nature!!!
It’s like the guy who they just did a movie about (I didn’t see it). He created the windshield wipers and no one would give him credit for it. It seemed like a simple idea but it took him years and hard work to get it to the place of being functional. Isn’t it a little silly to think that over time, it just started working right?
Charles Darwin said many years ago, that if someone could prove that a biological system COULD NOT have been constructed in incremental steps over long periods of time, then his theory would be invalid.
It has almost become absurd to think that out of some mixture of chemicals (that had to be exactly right) from an explosion (which no one can explain) in a universe (that had a beginning), an amoeba somehow formed (make that two) and it became an extremely complex organism which evolved into all the multitude of every different life form that now exists~!
Biochemists have discovered that the cell is anything but simple. (Yes, I know that it could have started out that way but can you explain how even a simple cell started?)
In a single cell, there are about 3 billion units of DNA making up the chromosomes. And there is the staggering complexity of its molecular machines that fit together to do their job. There are 40 different protein parts that are required to build a flagellum motor. It has been called the most efficient machine in the Universe. And yet, there are many who still insist, that this machine somehow formed itself accidentally.
How could a machine of such superb design arisen gradually without foresight or plan through the biological pathway Darwin envisioned? He felt he could find naturalistic processes to account for the complexity of life. Darwin thought that with enough time, natural selection and random changes in the cell, it could transform these simple cells into the great diversity of life.
A man named, Mike Behe, has written about “irreducible complexity” that states, on a molecular level, cells are so complex that they could not have evolved over eons of time because all parts of a cell are vital for function. In other words, you could not put something together like this gradually or it wouldn’t work at all. It’s like a heart cannot start functioning properly until every vein and artery are in place. And the heart has to be positioned in an environment where it can pump. How can that happen gradually?
Darwin said if someone could prove any complex organ existed which couldn’t possibly be formed by numerous, successive slight modifications, then his theory would break down. Michael Behe discovered the existence of biological machinery which could make Darwin’s theory invalid.
I know you scientists out there are about to pounce on me, but I did do some further research and found Behe has his adversaries (who doesn’t?). The Mullerian two-step proponents call Behe’s theory silly and they explain how there are only two basic steps needed to gradually evolve an “irreducibly complex” system from a “functioning precursor”. They believe parts could have been added simultaneously and as needed. Well that explains it all, doesn’t it???? How silly of Behe to think that a complex machine had to be all there before it would work! There already existed a lesser precursor that just needed a little tweaking before it would work properly~! We silly Creationists should have thought of that!
(Please note that many of the additional sarcastic statements are mine and are not those of the scientists.)
And I checked out Keith Robison’s thoughts about Behe. He calls Behe’s book, Darwin’s Black Box, an exposition of the Frontiers of Ignorance because he thinks we cannot postulate on that which we do not know for sure. Isn’t that what Science does all the time??? Isn’t that what Robison does himself?
He says that all we can do is look at the facts and logic presented and determine whether it makes any sense. ( What a good idea!) And he proceeds to give the flaws in Behe’s mousetrap design example. Behe talks about how a mousetrap will not catch a mouse if all the parts are not there. Behe calls the mousetrap “irreducibly complex”.
Robison proceeds to “catch” Behe in his ignorant assumption by explaining how the mousetrap could have evolved without every piece Behe thought was needed. He gave the brilliant example of how he could apply some of the pieces of the mousetrap to a floor. He said it would not be as functional but it would still work. “And then eventually, the floor would evolve into a small wooden base that could move to wherever a mouse (forget about how the mouse got there) might be living.” My quote.
Behe responded to him that he was still given some of the parts to the mousetrap that did fit together when assembled by someone “with some intelligence” (my quote). I realize Robison was just trying to show the absurdness of speaking about that which we do not know. He did a good job in my opinion.
But Behe went on to argue the question, where did the parts come from in the first place? And then how did the parts slowly but surely adapt to form a very complex organism?
Robison’s explanation: he sarcastically referred to Behe’s theory as the “God of the Gaps” explanation where someone can claim “Creationism” when it is found that if you remove a part --it doesn’t work--so there must be a God! I guess the thought of Intelligent Design makes as much sense as his astounding argument does!
I know I have presented some of these ideas in a sarcastic way and I ask you to forgive me. But it baffles me that people can come up with such ridiculous arguments to Intelligent Design and yet call those who believe it “ridiculous“-- and ignorant. And, of course, they may have a point. If you come from that worldview that believes we have all branched off from a tree that proceeded from the loins of an amoeba, then some of us probably haven’t “evolved” to the great intellectual status that others have.
I ask you, which of us is the fool?

Science Reluctantly Proves there is a God!
“Go wherever the answers will take you.”
Linus Pauling (a 2 time Nobel Prize winner) has said, “Science is the search for the truth.” And Science never stops searching! And now their searching has brought some of them into an inconvenient realization. It has become apparent that we have a beginning to our universe and something or someone had to do the beginning!
I love this part--The part where we can look the scientists in the eye (the ones who have consistently looked down on us) and say, “told you so!”.
(No offense to you scientists who read this blog because I know you are not like that!)
But, it would seem to be apparent that science has backed itself into an ever expanding corner and they can’t find a worm hole out!
It begins with the “beginning”. Christians, Jews and Muslims have always believed that there is a Creator WHO created the heavens and the earth. Many scientists looked at these poor people with pity (and disgust) believing that these people are deceived, desperate and devoid of intelligence-- for the most part.
Now there are plenty of scientists who do believe in a Creator, but those who do not, have had to put blinders on because of discoveries over the last few decades.
(Now those of you who know these things, please correct me if I’m wrong about any of these facts. This stuff is BIG and a little hard for me to understand so I’m open to correction.)
Many years ago, scientists believed that the universe was eternal and static. That it really had no beginning and therefore didn’t need an explanation of how it began. In Galileo’s day, people could only see about 3000 stars. Today, scientists can only estimate that there are at least 100 billion GALAXIES in our universe!!!!!!!!!!! Can you wrap your mind around that?
Now we know that the nearest star to us is Alpha Centauri and it is 24 thousand million miles away! It would take 8 light minutes to travel from our sun to the earth. But it takes over 4 YEARS for light to travel to earth from the nearest star! The farthest object we know about is a quasar which is about 17,000 million light years away!
Now here is the really exciting part~~~ When scientists started studying the light coming from the different stars, they discovered something amazing! They found a series of lines that separated bands of light coming from the stars.
In 1962, the light from a quasar was studied and the black lines had shifted from their place before and moved towards the red end of the light bands. Other stars were also studied and they too showed a red shift! Now what does that mean?
The answer was stunning! The red shift meant that the galaxies are traveling away from us at about 100 million miles an hour!!!!!! The red shift increases with an object’s increasing distance from the earth!
This discovery has amazing implications! It shocked many scientists and made them revamp their theories and beliefs.
When astronomers learned that our universe was expanding (as we speak), they realized that an ever expanding universe meant that it must have had a beginning! It’s like someone popped a tight balloon full of confetti and it blew out it’s contents with such power into space (with no gravity) that the confetti just continued to fly away from its source.
That is why the term, Big Bang, came into existence. And literally, it would seem that is what happened. (Some Christians take offense at this term but it very easily fits into the Genesis story.) Like consider who made the balloon and blew it up and then popped it???
After this discovery, a great debate started about what might have preceded the initial explosion. Quite a few brilliant thinkers came to the conclusion that, if there is a beginning to our universe, then it was plausible that something or someone had to start it---like God….
The “kalam argument” is one such belief system that has opened some of these minds. The argument is simple but profound: “Whatever begins to exist has a cause; the universe began to exist; therefore the universe has a cause.”
It is metaphysically necessary that anything which begins to exist HAS to have a CAUSE that brings it into being. Things don’t just pop into being out of nothing. This is a principle that is easily verified.
The expanding universe can also be proven mathematically. In 1905, Albert Einstein developed his theory of relativity and he began to apply it to the universe as a whole. He was shocked (and irritated) to discover that it did not allow for a static universe that he had previously believed the universe to be. According to his theory, the universe was either imploding or exploding. It was soon discovered that it was the latter.
And his Second Law of Thermodynamics is another one of his brilliant ideas that demonstrates the Big Bang wasn’t really just an explosion but a planned, ordered event. Explosions usually don’t create beautiful universes with planets all laid out nicely--especially ours--which just happens to be the exact, right distance from the sun! No… explosions usually create destruction and more chaos.
But this beginning bang or explosion or whatever it was, created order and an organized universe where things work according to laws. It was kind of like this beginning had an Organizer WHO planned the event!
There is so much more but I think that is all my finite mind can fathom right now. There is so much to think about! I hope this has been enlightening and has made you consider the wonders of our universe and the wonders of the ONE WHO made it!
For those of you who may still not believe in a Creator, I ask you to take all of this to its logical conclusion……..and then consider this:
“…For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities--HIS eternal power and divine nature---have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse.”

Doubts about God
New Blog----Big Doubts
Everybody has them! Doubts. It’s normal to have doubts because we have been duped in the past and we don’t want it to happen again. But there is an area of our lives where doubts can hinder us in a big way.
That area is in the spiritual domain. Believe me, I have had plenty of doubts in this area. And it is good to have some skepticism because obviously you can’t believe everything you hear. BUT-- if you think that applies to people who say they believe in a God WHO created the heavens and the earth----think again!
In the next few blogs, I am going to PROVE to you (as much as is humanly possible) that there is, indeed, A GOD! Of course, I’m going to use other people's research who are experts in their field, so I can’t really take any credit for these amazing discoveries. But, I am going to lay out this information for you so you can see it clearly. And then you can KNOW there really is a God WHO exists and that you can actually know HIM yourself! You will be able to put those doubts out of your mind for good!
As you know, IF you have been reading my blogs, that I have been on a TRUTH seeking journey. It has been very enlightening and I have loved it! One reason I have loved it is because it has strengthened my faith in God so much! That was my hope when I started this journey in the first place, so I am thrilled!
But I also hoped it would strengthen your faith too. And that it would make you think about what you really believe or perhaps, what you don‘t believe but really want to.
Some very interesting facts I just learned are: the Earth is only 8 light Minutes away from our Sun; our Earth is 4 light YEARS away from the nearest star; And, get this, the farthest object in the universe (that we know about) is----17,000 MILLION light years away!!!!!!!!!!!!
Why is all of that important in talking about the spiritual realm and doubts? Because there is no way to even describe our universe because it is so vast!!! There is simply no end to it!!! How can that be? How can something have no end? It does not compute in our finite minds. Yet, we have proof that this is true about our universe even though we can't comprehend it!
Just like our finite minds cannot comprehend an omnipotent, infinite God even though there is a great deal of proof that HE does exist!
When you have to explain the universe and the earth and everything else without the ONE WHO made it, then you run into a lot of problems. Actually, there is really NO way you can explain it..............
You kind of have to say some silly things if you are going to be an atheist like: we were blown into existence and everything just kind of happened to work out so that there are all of these species that came from amoebas (we’re not sure where the amoebas came from?). And we evolved from apes but some of the apes didn’t make the cut. And we have a conscience and they don’t. Well they might, but they are still inferior to us so we must have found a better watering hole than they did because we came out so much better!
If you chose to do this life without God, then you are going to have a lot of unanswered questions in biology, astronomy, AND in your life.
But, when you do finally come to the conclusion that there MUST be a God, then you find a lot of answers to every question. And the answers make sense! And then our lives start making sense! And then it all falls together!
So, I hope you will enjoy discovering why more and more scientists are becoming convinced that there is, indeed, an Intelligent Designer behind our world and our universe!!!
The more you know, the more you will see. And the more you see, the more you will believe. And the more you believe, the more you will be blessed.
You'll see :)

How do You say "Thanks" in other Religions?
As we extend our stomachs past another Thanksgiving, it's always interesting to ponder what Thanksgiving is really all about. Are we truly thankful? And who are we thankful to?
Most of you know I have the prestigious job of a substitute teacher and I was working Wednesday in a very cute third grade class. We went to the school library that day and I noticed some books on other religions that caught my attention. I have been looking at other religions and their beliefs so I thought this would be a good time to do a little research.
As I read about two of the most famous religions, I wondered who they would thank for all their blessings? I'll give you a short synopsis of their beliefs and we'll find the answer to that question.
If you are a Hindu, then you belong to the one of the oldest religions in the world. There is really no founder known for this religion and there is no sacred book they embrace like the Bible. There are about 700 million Hindus and you have to be born a Hindu to be one--there are no conversions to Hinduism! So you don't have to worry about any proselytizing Hindus knocking on your door.
Saying prayers and visiting the temple is not necessary but many do it. They believe when you die, your soul lives on and is reborn into another body--humans or animals. And how you live effects how you'll be reborn-- Karma. (I bet you have heard that word before.)
Their ultimate aim is to gain salvation and break free of the cycle. Cows are highly regarded and considered sacred. I'm not sure if that is the ultimate "reborn" experience, but if it is, I'm glad I wasn't born a Hindu!
Their supreme spirit is brahman and they believe he was the creator of the universe. There are quite a few more gods and goddesses but there are only 3 main ones. The reason they have the red dot on their foreheads is because that represents a blessing from whatever god they were praying to at the temple or at a roadside shrine.
They use yoga and meditation in search of enlightenment and often repeat a mantra to achieve that place. When they die, they cremate the body and if possible, scatter the ashes in the River Ganges which is considered sacred to them.
So based on this synopsis of Hinduism, I would say that when they have "Thanksgiving", they thank brahman or one of the many other gods they have. And, they have quite a choice!
Now if you're a Buddhist, then you would be thankful to Prince Siddhartha Gautama who, in the early 600's BC, noticed that not everyone lived like he did-- in a palace. I have to say that I like this guy. He seemed to really care about the poor.
He left his wealth at age 29 and became as a poor person seeking the answer to life's suffering. Finally after 49 days of fasting and praying under a tree, he gained enlightenment. The word buddha means "enlightened one" and that's what he felt he attained. He went about preaching his message--the reason people are unhappy is because they are never content with what they have! He had a good point, I think!
Buddhists believe that gaining enlightenment is like waking up from a deep sleep and seeing things as they really are. They achieve this state through saying prayers and reciting passages from the sacred books. They often meditate in groups and try to rid their minds of any thoughts. They do this by chanting a simple verse called a mantra. They are taught to follow the "middle path" between extremes of luxury and hardship. They are peaceful and do not believe in any type of violence
The buddha died at age 80 and then entered what they believe to be heaven--nirvana--a state of perfect bliss and happiness. An interesting "side" note is that he died laying on his side!
Another interesting note about Buddha was that he did not want to be worshipped as a god nor did he claim he was the only path. His teachings were simply guides.Buddhists believe there are other buddhas besides Prince Siddhartha.
His followers are sent out to spread his teaching, called the dharma. So, in their case, you might have to worry about a buddhist knocking on your door! There are more than 400 million Buddhists in the world. They are the fourth largest religion behind Christianity, Muslims and Hindus. They are actually a branch of Hinduism.
What is my point in telling you about these two religions? Other than wondering who they would thank at Thanksgiving, I also believe that to look for truth, you must look at every belief that suggests they have found it! These two religions believe they have found truth.
So how do we know if they have found it? Well, in the first place, if Hindus have found the truth, we're out of luck since you have to be born a Hindu to be one! This is not a very gracious religion, in my opinion!
They also treat some people as untouchables; another form of exclusion which doesn't ring TRUE to me! Truth holds all people as equal! And the cow thing is a little hard to "swallow" in my opinion!
I'm sure Hindus have found some truths along the way, but as a whole, they are not founded on THE TRUTH! It doesn't really matter anyway, since we can't be one!
AS far as Buddhists go, they have discovered some great truths. Truly Prince Siddhartha was a kind man who wanted to find an answer to life's suffering and pain. He gave up a royal position to identify with the common man (much like Moses did in Egypt).
He did find some answers that I would certainly categorize as truths. But is the religion itself built on truth? Perhaps in many ways it is. I do believe we should strive for peace and violence is wrong. And I think he found truth when he said that the reason for much of our unhappiness is because we are not content with what we have.
Probably every religion or belief system is based on several, if not many, truths.
So could this religion be based on the Truth? The buddha, himself, said that he did not want to be worshipped and that his teachings were only guides. And these same principles can be found in the Bible and in other religions.
The buddha was a man who said he was not a god. But that has not stopped many of his followers from worshiping him. He should not be worshipped if he is a man. People are not worthy of worship. If he is looked at as a guide, then he has some good things to say.
We will explore this more in my next column which will also include the Muslim faith.
Hope you enjoy the holidays!

Nightmare on Pennsylvania Avenue
I wanted to share with you an article I wrote about the state of the Conservative Party now:
Wednesday morning, November 5th, I was jolted awake but it wasn't by my alarm. No, on this morning, it was Obama that gave me the jolt!!! I have awakened to the reality that Barack Hussein Obama is going to be our new President. It is a Conservative's worst nightmare! The most liberal Senator in Congress has now become the President-elect of the United States!
All of the conservatives knew it was coming but we still held out hope for a man who had weathered far worse odds . The Country respected McCain and over 57 million Americans voted for him. But that was not enough. When the votes were tallied, more than 65 million people voted for "that other guy."
The majority of America wanted something that McCain's campaign did not address. Their ideas did little to resonate with many voters. It did succeed in giving Saturday Night Live some excellent material, though.
The Conservative Party is in shock right now. They are in denial. They have just been dealt a death blow. There is no raucous partying in the park for their candidate. There is no anticipation of what can be accomplished in the coming year. There is only defeat.
Right now, for the most part, we are dead in the water. We have no leader. We have no hope. We have no clear vision of where to go now. We have retreated into our cabins for a long cold winter. We are not wanted by most of the American people.
The Conservatives need some time to mourn and then they must regroup. To survive, they must process the “Obama wake up call” and find a way to fit into this new society. America wants “change”. And I am sure that is what they will get.
The Conservatives have been asked to leave so Obama can come in and save America. A young Senator from Illinois, with virtually little experience and few accomplishments, has to deal with two wars and one of the greatest economic crises America has ever faced. A crisis, I might add, that originated in the Johnson Administration when they began the relaxation of mortgage commitments. The situation became considerably worse under Carter.
And, during the Clinton Administration, the radical group, ACORN (Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now), became another indirect contributor to our woes by putting pressure on banks to make available more funds for mortgage purchases.
President Bush tried to warn the Congress for many years before this impending crisis occurred but they ignored his warnings. Some Congressmen even said there was no reason for concern.
Even so, The President has taken the rap for this crisis and McCain suffered the repercussions since he was constantly linked to Bush. From what I can see, President Bush didn't have much to do with this economic meltdown other than being the reigning President when it happened.
But no one seems to care who is really responsible anymore. They just want Obama to fix it. He will, no doubt, ask for help from some of the very ones in Congress who have contributed to our plight. This plight is the issue Obama has promised to address first. And I'm sure that is what America hoped to hear at his first news conference. What will be his plan?
The question was asked and his response was not what people wanted to hear. He still has not chosen a Secretary of the Treasury. He stressed the need for deliberation before haste but haste is what we need when our economy is going down the toilet. If he was going to have a press conference to calm our fears, why didn't he have this person in place?
The press gave him an out and asked about the puppy. The tension went out of Obama at this question. It seems the Country is preoccupied about the dog. Dogs are man's best friend and I have a feeling Obama is going to need one as these four years progress.
One of my fellow conservatives noticed he seemed nervous. That is understandable when faced with a room full of press asking tough questions and no teleprompter to boot! But his nervousness was endearing to my friend. She felt it showed humility. Or was it fear?
Conservatives are looking for ways to feel good about Obama. One of my most conservative friends is coping by trying to focus on Obama's beautiful family and how they will fare in the White House.
My son is a staunch Republican, which makes him a minority in his high school. He was disappointed that his peers were more concerned about McCain's connection to Bush than they were about Obama's to known terrorists.
Many of my conservative friends are nervous. They knew what they were getting with McCain. They knew he would protect the issues Conservatives have worked so hard to achieve. like pro-family and pro-life legislation. They do not know if these victories will survive under Obama. They just don't know what to expect.
But Conservatives realize that this is still America even though change is in the air. We must have hope that it will all work out in the end. And like my good friend, Joe the pastor, says, "People are putting their hope in the wrong place. In the big scheme of things, there is only one hope for these troubled times. It's the same hope that brought our forefathers to this Country in the first place."
My friends, Joe is right. Even though this candidate was not our personal choice, the Office of the President is one that demands respect by the people of this Country. Our prayers should always be offered up for the one who sits in that Oval Office for he has the hardest job in the world. May God bless America!
